Loiterers and magicians have been trouble for shoppe-keepers since tyme im-memorialle, and XIXth centurie Newe England was no exceptionne! Here an itinerant sot reads the news-paper without any intente of purchasingge it, whilst “The Great Magiccio” attempts a basicke accounting tricke. Towns-people were be-sieged by plagues of such ne'er-do-wells until smallpoxe swept Ye Olde Sturbridge Village, and the nation, in MDCCCLIII.
